Frequently asked questions

What are the ‘Shout Out’ campaign awards?

We get that times are really tough right now for so many people.

It’s often the little things that make a difference – whether it’s a helping hand or just someone who understands.

Our 2021 Real Life Difference research found that while last year has been tougher than most for 92% of Australians, the number one thing that has made a positive difference and helped them cope is people – more specifically, family, friends and neighbours.

While we’re proud to be helping thousands of Australians to achieve their financial dreams every year, as a lender that understands the importance of providing a helping hand when it’s needed, we decided to do something more.

So, we’ve created a way for Australians to give a shout out to the people who have made a real-life difference to someone – maybe it’s a friend, a family member or even a stranger – and for some of those people we’re going to do something nice for them in return.

That’s why you’ll notice our ads looking a little stripped back this year – because we’ve decided to take some of our annual Pepper Money creative budget to celebrate the helpers, the carers, and the everyday heroes who make such a real life difference.

Can I nominate more than one person?

Yes, we want to hear about as many Australians’ making a real-life difference as you can tell us about. We would be very happy to hear about more than one person’s impact.

Is there a cash alternative?

Our Shout Out Awards will be in the form of gifts, experiences and services - not cash. They are real life contributions aimed at making a real-life difference to the person being given the award. They will range in variety based on the research we do into the situation.

Can my nomination be used as part of this promotion?

Making these nominations visible and promoting the great things being done is the heart of the campaign. We aim to celebrate all the wonderful stories we hear about.

Will Pepper Money share my contact details?

Please read the Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy for details of how we will collect, store, use and disclose the personal information including contact details of you and the Nominee.

How will you choose who gets an award?

We have a panel that will be assessing nominations based on criteria around how the Nominee has gone out of their way to help others or the community, in ways large or small, and thereby made a meaningful difference to the person(s) they have helped, and particularly where this has:

  • Enhanced physical health, mental wellbeing and/or social connectivity of others;
  • Increased participation opportunities for others;
  • Supported underserved communities (such as young girls/women, people with disabilities, culturally & linguistically diverse people, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community, LGBTQI+ community, individuals/families facing financial hardship).

How long is the campaign running for?

2022 is already proving to be a challenging time so this campaign will run for the rest of this year to December 2022. From April 2022 onwards, the panel will be reviewing nominations and announcing awards.
